About me
I have worked in both academic and public libraries since the early 1980s. I started my current position as Director in January 2020. I started in academia but left in 2000 because I was certain that everything in university and college libraries would shortly move to an entirely digital format. The same process of digitization was and is happening in public libraries but at a slower pace. After failing to retire successfully, I began working at Memphis Seminary. Returning to work in academia had some surprises, but some things stayed the same. The weakest students still need the most help but their remoteness in a digital world makes it challenging to see that they get the help they need.
